Santok Singh
Chef Santok Singh trained under an Indian master chef for three years and has been with Gaylord India since 1982. He became executive chef in 1986. Santok is a master curry chef and is responsible for the planning and expanding the food at the restaurant.
Gaylord India Restaurant is located in the famous historic Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco and has been serving the Bay Area exemplary traditional Indian cuisine for more than 28 years. Founder and owner Kishore Kripalani opened his first Indian restaurant in San Francisco in 1976, hiring successful chefs from India to guarantee authenticity in his cuisine. Since its opening, Gaylord India has been consistently rated among the top Indian restaurants in America and continues to receive local and international accolades.
Gaylord India offers breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, the Marin Headlands, Fisherman Wharf and spectacular sunsets over the Golden Gate Bridge. The dining room is decorated in warm earthy tones, and is comfortably elegant with Chippendale chairs, potted palms, and rare antique Indian woodcarvings and paintings.
Gaylord India features a menu of Northern Indian cuisine, influenced by the Moghuls who once ruled Northern Inida who left a legacy of exceptional spices, opulent sauces, meats and vegetarian specialties. The restaurant has a full bar and the wine list features California and international wines.
Gaylord India specializes in centuries old techniques of Tandoori (clay oven) cooking. Only the finest products are imported from India to ensure authentic tastes. The glowing ovens are viewed through a glass window in the kitchen.
